Our Exhibitions

We love art. Either making our own or, most importantly, enjoying other people’s art. We, therefore, love hosting Art Exhibitions in our Store, giving the opportunity to young, mainly, artists to show their work, and to other people to admire it.

Observing the familiar

The painting exhibition by Petros Maipas, titled Observing the Familiar, took place in May 2026 and was co-curated by Christina Dougeropoulou and Stavroula Chorinou.

Observing the Familiar brings together images of everyday moments involving people and places that seem familiar. Solitary figures or groups of people, bodies at rest, scenes inside homes or in outdoor spaces come together to form a world that feels intimate and immediately recognisable. These are images that belong to no specific place or time; they resemble moments we have all encountered or experienced.

Oil paints, acrylics, and markers. A few coloured-pencil works, along with several pieces in pencil and Indian ink. Painted ceramics. Petros’s works do not tell a complete story. Instead, they leave space for the eye to wander and for memory to be activated.

The line remains clear and unrefined, keeping the gesture alive. There is no concealment or correction; every mark on the paper carries the sense of an instantaneous recording. Colour appears with intensity, functioning like a pulse within the composition, selectively illuminating forms and details.

The ceramics painted by the artist were created by ceramicist Dilek Oz.

Petros Maipas studied graphic design and is a self-taught painter. He works as an art director in Athens and has had a long-standing career in advertising. For more than 25 years, he has collaborated with Greek and international brands, receiving significant distinctions for his creative work.

Alongside his professional career, he has maintained a consistent visual art practice that began in childhood. Since 2016, his engagement with painting has become more sustained and systematic. He first presented his work publicly at the exhibition MAPA in 2016 (Area 364), and has also participated in group exhibitions with Dogma Athens, including Platforms Project at the Athens School of Fine Arts (2022) and Teras Athens (2023).

Christina Dougeropoulou, having developed extensive experience as a curator in galleries, now expands her practice as an independent curator, combining knowledge of cultural management and artist management. Her work focuses on creating contemporary curatorial narratives and immersive exhibition experiences.

Stavroula Chorinou is the founder of Tales in Tiles experience store, a space that for the past five years has promoted art and artists as a means of bringing people together, with the aim of sharing ideas and, above all, values that are increasingly being challenged in our world today. While ceramics remain at the heart of its programme, Tales in Tiles increasingly embraces a wide range of artistic practices — including painting, collage, photography, textiles, and jewellery — through exhibitions, workshops, and artworks presented in its exhibition space.

Dilek Oz is a ceramic artist and graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Istanbul, with many years of experience in the practice of ceramic art. Her passion lies in wheel-thrown ceramics, while her artistic practice also extends to hand-built forms. For the past four years, she has maintained an ongoing collaboration with Tales in Tiles, where she leads ceramics workshops and creates ceramic artworks.

Hybrid Traces

The group exhibition Hybrid Traces took place in March 2026 and was co-curated by Christina Dougeropoulou, independent curator, and Stavroula Chorinou, founder of Tales in Tiles.

Participating artists: Giannis Valyrakis, Anna Karountzou, Kallia Panopoulou, Konstantinos Patsios, Iosif Foskolos.

The exhibition explores the coexistence and interaction of materials that, while belonging to different traditions — fine art and functional objects — come together within a unified exhibition environment. The title Hybrid Traces refers to forms that bear the imprint of gesture, material, and memory.

Hybrid Traces is a contemporary artistic encounter between creators working across mixed media, using collage, painting, textile, and ceramics as their primary expressive tools. The exhibition seeks to create a dialogue between the materials, techniques, and narratives embodied in each work. In a world where artistic practices increasingly transcend the boundaries of individual media, the exhibition proposes an in-between visual territory: a space where clay meets fabric, collage becomes body, and gesture flows from one material to another.

Tales in Tiles, with its identity as an art space, provides an ideal setting for this material and sensory exploration. The selection of artists is based on their multidisciplinary approaches and their willingness to engage both with the space and with one another. Through textiles and thread, ceramics, collage, and painting, the exhibition seeks to activate the senses and highlight the relationships between these different practices, whether through contrasts or unexpected affinities.

Giannis Valyrakis draws inspiration from everyday life, human relationships, and connection. He creates narratives around separation, loneliness, and companionship, balancing between “together” and “apart.” His works function as visual diaries, recording the ephemeral, the passage of time, and the ways in which we preserve memory.

Working primarily with traditional hand-building techniques such as coiling, pinching, and slab construction, Anna Karountzou creates functional and sculptural vessels shaped through slow, tactile processes. For this exhibition, Anna presents new work in which all exterior glazes have been created exclusively from natural clays collected through her personal exploration of the Greek landscape. Clays from the rivers of Epirus and the Konitsa region coexist with clay from the remote island of Kasos and from Lemnos, while the glazes are made from ashes derived from Santorini wine vineyards. Together, these materials form a dialogue between different landscapes, climates, and geological memories. This body of work is dedicated to the profound contrasts found within this country and its land.

Drawing inspiration from organic forms found in nature — marine organisms, flowers, bones, and stones — Kallia Panopoulou’s practice focuses on the sculptural dimension of ceramics, embracing imperfection as an aesthetic element and creating surfaces that evoke natural erosion and fossilisation. Through experimentation with different firing temperatures and surface treatments, she explores the dialogue between the fragility and resilience of the material, transforming clay into a vessel for organic memory and material presence.

The work of Konstantinos Patsios combines elements of conceptual art, Expressionism, and Pop Art, infused with a strong sense of irony and critical commentary. A central principle of his practice is the encounter and fusion of heterogeneous materials, data, and images, with the aim of shaping a clear and coherent visual proposition. Through this process, he seeks to create a new field of thought in which contradictions are not concealed, but incorporated and ultimately resolved, leading to a new form of harmony — both on the level of the image and that of logical coherence. His work operates as an open field in which concepts, materials, and aesthetic languages are negotiated, allowing the heterogeneous to transform into a unified and cohesive experience.

Iosif Foskolos has developed a distinctive visual language in which painting engages organically with hand stitching. Thread is incorporated into the canvas as an essential structural element, tracing lines and creating relief surfaces that lend rhythm and depth to the composition. In his abstract works, earthy colour palettes are interrupted by unexpected bursts of intensity, while recurring linear patterns suggest pathways and inner landscapes. Materiality, gesture, and balance coexist harmoniously, creating an atmosphere of warmth and quiet contemplation.

This exhibition is the result of the meeting of curator Christina Dougeropoulou and Stavroula Chorinou, founder of Tales in Tiles experience store.

CO-EXISTENCE Vol. II

What began as a street photography project of ceramic works in Omonia Square, last April, unexpectedly evolved into the ground for a new artistic narrative. Emotionally charged photographs, provoking reflection on what prevents us from co-existing; from enjoying, from soaking in the beauty of diversity of materials, textures, smells, and most of all, of people; from truly enjoying one another.

16 photographs, printed on FINE ART paper and on 3mm Dibond, are exhibited at CO-EXISTENCE Vol. II by photographer Evangelia Koumantsioti:

Ceramics placed on the white marble of Omonia square, riding the escalator at the metro, an old man takes one and dances. A lady uses it as a measuring cup on her nut-selling scale, a fishmonger “shows it off” above his fishes in Varvakios market. Another man proudly poses with a ceramic piece and a cigarette.

Alongside the artistic documentation of the ceramics for the purposes of the street photography, Evangelia’s lens “captured” something deeper. The surrounding atmosphere of the area: bustling, multicultural, radiant, with its own unique light, the light of a city that is alive, a life made up of buildings, materials, a little nature, a few animals (pigeons), and of course, people.

From this particular photoshoot came the title CO-EXISTENCE of the ceramics exhibition held at the Moxy Athens City Hotel last April.

CO-EXISTENCE Vol. II is its continuation. This time the photographs are presented in an independent exhibition – a step further. A step closer to truly co-existing. Not just peacefully. Beautifully.

The exhibition is curated by Stavroula Chorinou, founder of Tales in Tiles experience store.

NEO-HELLENIC ELEGANCE

The jewellery exhibition Neo-Hellenic Elegance: From the History of Yesterday to the AENÁLIA of Today took place in March 2025.

Guided by the first brand dedicated to reviving Neo-Hellenic jewellery, the exhibition embarked on a journey through the history of modern Greece, from the 17th century to the late 19th century, exploring the art of jewellery during a period when, despite the challenges faced by Hellenism, this particular art form managed to flourish.

The exhibition then brought this journey into the present day, highlighting AENÁLIA’s deep and inseparable connection to history and tradition, and the way jewellery from the recent past can be transformed into something contemporary, beautiful, and authentic.

The exhibition featured original examples of Neo-Hellenic jewellery, from which AENÁLIA founder Katerina Kritiku draws inspiration for her creations; lithographs depicting traditional costumes from different regions of Greece, together with the jewellery worn with them; historical books dedicated to Neo-Hellenic jewellery; and, of course, collections of AENÁLIA jewellery.

Setting The Table: Cheese And Wine

In the aftermath of grapes harvest, Tales in Tiles experience store has invited 6 ceramists to a Ceramics Exhibition, with the title:

SETTING THE TABLE: CHEESE AND WINE

In particular, we have invited ceramists, from Turkey, Kavala, Lamia and from our neighborhood, Neos Kosmos and Nea Smyrni, to create works inspired by the concept of wine harvest, each putting their own personal style and signature.

Dilek Oz, Kostas Karakitsos, Stratos Karakitsos, Nikos Katsoulas (Lavatoy ceramics workshop), Kallia Panopoulou and Christianna Theodoratou brought ceramics they made particularly for this theme, and we set the table.

With this exhibition, we try to emphasize on the importance of Ceramics Art and how it can foster basic life values, such as “Together in Simplicity”.

“Together” as in the fact that ceramics are works of art, while at the same time they can be utilitarian. Unlike most arts that are for the fulfillment of the soul, ceramics can at the same time be included in our everyday life.

“Simplicity” as in the raw material of clay, soil and water, as well as the fire needed to bake the ceramic object.

The Works of the exhibition, though, are not that simple, as they contain the experience, the special skills, the aesthetics and of course the soul of each one of the Artists that we are hosting, separately.

The exhibition will last till Saturday the 9th of November!

Exhibition Mantility x Konstantinos Patsios

MANTILITY silk scarves gallery and Konstantinos Patsios will “met” on Friday, March 8 at Tales in Tiles experience store, in Koukaki, to present the new silk scarf with the artwork of the artist ‘The Pre-Raphaelite Conspiracy’.

Along with the scarf, there was an exhibition of the works of Konstantinos Patsios, dominated by ‘The Pre-Raphaelite Conspiracy’.

As Art Historian Katia Papandreopoulou has written about the artist’s work:

“The portraits he uses suggest a desire to connect with the great tradition of painting. Sometimes recognizable, sometimes deliberately anonymous, they abandon their familiar qualities and cohabit with neo-pop culture. Their color tones are bold, while consciously often overshadowing the personalities they frame.”

Konstantinos Patsios was born in Athens in 1977. He studied Economics at the University of Piraeus and at the Grande École de Commerce de Poitiers in France. He received an early scholarship to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Providence, U.S.A. He then studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts with G. Psychopedis and M. Spiliopoulos, and Sculpture with N. Tranos. He has held sixteen solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has participated in numerous group exhibitions.

MANTILITY, the Greek Brand from Kavala, is the first silk scarf gallery in the world. He collaborates with over 50 artists who imprint different designs on silk scarves and are digitally printed with ecological methods, in Soufli.
The “roster” of MANTILITY designers – the founder calls them “MANTILITY Dreamers” – includes, among others, the creative agency G Design Studio, the painter-hagiographer George Kordis, the visual artist Cacao Rocks, ceramist Kostas Karakitsos, photographer Stratos Kalafatis, ceramist Leoni Giagtzoglou, painter Filippos Theodoridis, illustrator Rima Lyma, architect Christina Moschou, graphic designer Sigma Gamma, painter Leonidas Michalakos, graffiti artists Blaqk and now Konstantinos Patsios.

Exhibition of artist Stephania Psarros

Anthesteria – Stephania Psarros at Tales in Tiles

Stephania Psarros’ exhibition Anthesteria was a celebration of the ancient Athenian festival honoring Dionysus, the god of wine, and the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The Anthesteria, meaning Festival of Flowers or Blossoms, was a three-day festival held in late February or early March, marking the transition of souls and the passage of time. Seeds planted at the winter solstice blossomed during the festival, while fruit ripened by summer—mirroring the journey of the soul through different stages of existence. The festival was a time of both joy and reverence, with prayers to Dionysus, rituals to guide souls in transition, and the long-awaited opening of aged wine stored in clay vessels.

In this spirit, Psarros created a world of floral symbolism and Dionysian imagery, where golden flowers represent souls at their peak, cabbages transform into Satyrs, and floating eyes embody souls between lives. Using gold leaf and wine-colored ink on black and off-white paper, her works evoke both the mystery and vitality of the festival. The lotus flower, emerging from the muddy waters of Elos—where the festival was once held—symbolizes purity, transformation, and human consciousness.

A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, Psarros has exhibited internationally, with past shows in Athens, London, Chania, and New York. Anthesteria was on view at Tales in Tiles from November 23 to December 16, 2023, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in an ancient celebration of life, death, and renewal.

Exhibition of photographer Lena Konstantakou

The Extraordinary Will Take Care of Itself

Lena Konstantakou instinctively understood that to truly know a place, one must return to it again and again—embracing its rhythms, its seasons, growing with it both inwardly and outwardly. This journey, from the bustling metropolis of London to the serene port of Rafina, is not merely geographical but deeply emotional.

Through her lens, Konstantakou captures the poetry of the everyday—the quiet beauty found in the ordinary. Her images invite viewers into a contemplative space, where light, color, and fleeting moments reveal the profound in the simple. With gratitude as her guide, she celebrates life as it unfolds, allowing the extraordinary to emerge naturally from the familiar.

Exhibition of graphic designer Danae Sargologou

Capturing ThEros – A Tribute to Greek Summer

Danae Sargologou’s exhibition Capturing ThEros was a visual journey into the essence of Greek summer—its warmth, nostalgia, and fleeting beauty. Through 16 Giclée Fine Art prints, the exhibition evoked the serenity and joy that define this season: the taste of sun-ripened fruit, the lightness of ouzo in the afternoon glow, and the bliss of moonlit dances. With vibrant yet soothing designs, the artworks served as a reminder of cherished moments, carrying us through the year until we return once more to familiar shores.

Exhibition of Lavatoy Ceramics Workshop

In his first solo Exhibition, in our experience store, in April 2022, Nikos Katsoulas, the creator of ceramic workshop Lavatoy, presented a collection of Vases, mugs and table lamps.

The lines are simple, the colours earthy and the clay stoneware and terracotta.

The result was a smooth combination of the curves of old times and the linear designs of today.

“We get inspired by the contrast between the primitiveness of the raw material, the clay, and modern functionality, to produce practical and at the same time of high aesthetics pieces or art”.

The ceramics workshop Lavatoy has managed in a few years to become recognizable in the sector of ceramics in Greece and abroad, thanks to the fine lines of its products, beautifully linked to the nature, the sea and the Greek sky.

The workshop’s logo, plays a significant part in this recognizability. It is a copy of an animal-shaped clay figurine of the Neolithic era of Elateia, Niko’s place of birth, a small ancient city in the center of Central Greece, at the foot of mount Parnassos. “This excellent finding of small craft, which may have been used as a burial gift, and object of religious cult, or simply, a child’s toy, adorns our creations as a logo of mimimalism and local culture”.

Exhibition of visual artist Nafsika Tzanou

Visual artist, Nafsika Tzanou, communicated her work for the first time to the public, in October 2021, in the first exhibition of our store too.

Her work, The Analogue Collection, has been mainly inspired by the Greek Mythology, but also from the nature, the exploration of personal experiences, as well as an eagerness for the appropriation of internationally recognizable figures.

Her first piece of art was created, following her wish to create a beautiful Christmas card for her friends and collaborators.  Soon, this engagement was evolved into a torrential creativity, in which she finds the freedom of expression she needs, to escape from the constraints involved in her profession as an Architect.

Nafsika is the Architect behind the beautiful renovation of out Tales in Tiles Athens and our Tales in Tiles Experience Store.

You may find her work available for sale in our e-shop here, but also in our store.
